Why Vegan

Plant-based leather, often referred to as vegan leather, is a sustainable and ethical alternative to traditional animal skin leather. It is crafted from various fruit and plant-based materials, replicating the appearance and texture of natural leather. The primary distinction lies in its sourcing: vegan leather is entirely devoid of animal-derived components, ensuring no harm to animals in its production.

Muskaan Mundhra, Founder & CEO of Serein India (House of Serein), is a forward-thinking fashion entrepreneur deeply committed to cruelty-free and sustainable luxury. An alumna of Pearl Academy with a background in fashion business and luxury brand management, she launched Serein Cosmetics at just 21, driven by a heartfelt conviction that “animals are not products” and no life should ever be tagged with a price.


Expanding the brand in 2022, she introduced House of Serein that uses plant-based leathers—such as mango, pineapple, and cactus—in accessories and apparel, blending eco-conscious innovation with artisanal craftsmanship. Her work has made Serein a celebrated name in sustainable fashion, showcased at major exhibitions like Lakmé Fashion Week, and partnered with organizations like PETA to amplify the mission of ethical style.

Cactus Leather

Harvested from organically grown cactus plants, cactus leather is created from mature leaves that regenerate naturally, ensuring no lasting harm to the plant. Sun-dried and processed into a strong bio-resin, it becomes a supple material that rivals traditional leather in both form and function. Celebrated for its durability, breathability, and luxurious feel, cactus leather epitomizes cruelty-free elegance.

Banana Leather

Banana leather is derived from the sturdy fibers of banana plant stems, typically discarded after harvest. By reimagining this agricultural residue, it gives new life to waste while supporting circular economies and rural livelihoods. The result is a naturally textured, flexible, and versatile material—proof that sustainability can be as stylish as it is responsible.

Eucalyptus Leather

Eucalyptus leather blends advanced biomaterial innovation with the strength and softness of eucalyptus bark and pulp.
